clearly it's music
have you ever noticed how much music plays a huge part in our lives?
I think i may have just realised it then. I read the online biography of Johan Norberg (swedish liberal... he likes globalisation, star trek and capitalism) and clearly is passion in life is economics and politics. But he ended his little autobiogrpahy with music.
There is music in the background when I am reading, and in the foreground when it’s party time. The 80s are best, electronics à la Depeche Mode, Lustans Lakejer, Alphaville, Welle: Erdball and Ultravox, and also melancholy rock like Kent, The Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox, The Cure and Nick Cave. In really good music there should always be a touch of melancholy present.
He is a professional writer, so he would know that the ending of a piece is crucial to your overall impression. And i can say that I safely like this guy as he's a Nick Cave fan.
Music just seems to be everywhere. Did anyone (amy, isabel, alice, charlie, anna and jon excluded) notice how in every speech by Dr Hayward, he would mention music. It would always creep up. He may not have mentioned Maths of Science, which the average Joe would consider as Rogers passion as he's a Doctor of Science or something.
I could write a book on this. But I won't. This is just my little idea. Music is the source of everything.
Stay tuned kids for Emma's theory about how eyelashes are an indicator for Intelligence.
PG - Mild Drug References
I woke up this morning. And suddenly realised... that we're all in this together.
Not quite. But i did wake up to a rather loud "COOKOO! COOKOO!!!" - startled, i started hitting my alarm clock. But the sound wouldn't go away. Then i realised that it was my new ringtone for getting a message. It turns out that Charlotte. My QLD buddy is coming down for New Years. But she's going to the Falls Festival. I won't go into the pain of that. I just hope she has fun. That reminds me. I'll have to give her money to buy me a Dandy Warhols T-Shirt for me. I know! i'll put a reminder in my phone! (heh. it does everything! it can even make coffee!)
So I'm going into the city today to meet her. Then we're going to Berwick. Joy. no really! i love berwick... but it's a bit of a ummm *cough* hole.
Kerry Packer died in his sleep last night. So Mums a bit weird today. She didn't know him well. But they had met a few times, and well, he was her boss. Just the other week he sent us a christmas card. Although, something tells me that he didn't lick the stamp himself.

I took those lovely photos with my new 2.0Mp Camera Phone. (sick of my phone yet people?)
It seems like a bit of a shock that Uncle Kerry died. I mean, it's not like we weren't all expecting it. He's already died like 3 times before.
Heres a random change of subject for you.
They say girls are generally attracted to guys that are like their father. Which sounds gross, but in reality it's pretty true. The thing that turned me off my last guy was the realisation that he was too much like my dad. even though they hated each other, they were quite similar in many ways. And I just found the thing that Lachlan and my Dad have in common. So i will try to forget about it, and hopefully Lach won't end up the same as Peter.

i'm lazy. can someone look up the meaning of Boxing Day... more precisely, why is it called "Boxing Day" where does the "Boxing" bit come in?
So it's boxing day and i'm indulging in Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce. Recieving picture messages on my
new phone and listening to PJ Harveyand the BRMC. All is good today.
Yesterday was joyful. I got up at 5.20am and got dressed. ironed my clothes for the afternoon and packed my bag. then at about 5.50am as i was brushing my teeth. my dad got up, soon followed by my mother. I told them to go back to bed. But they resisted, and pushed a present upon me. Well two... but one was a bag, that i wrapped the night before, and unwraped before they got up, because i needed it to put my clothes in. Anyway... this present was oddly shaped, and I told mother that I wanted to wait until the afternoon to open all my presents together. But no. she made me open it there. And it was a rediculous present which i really don't deserve. It's the #1 most coolest phone in the world. the Sony Ericsson W800i Walkman Phone. I am in love.
I asked mum to take it back. because we really honestly can't afford it. but i think it's part graduating present too.
So by 6am I left for work. Got there a tad early, so I opened up and then the driver arrived with the bread and cakes. He was the ugly one though. i was hoping it was the hot driver, a nice christmas present for me. but no. i was welcomed by a large protuding butt crack.
The bakery was flat out until about 11am. At one stage when i was taking a coffee out to a customer on the tables outside, and i looked down church st. there was a queue down all the way to the milkbar. thats approx 30m down the street. Quite an effort if you ask me.
Then after about 11am it was dead quiet. So Anne-Louise and I got to knock off at 12. woo! go us! poor other kids who had to stay until 1.30pm
Off to the rellies was on the bill for after work. there, i got more presents. some quite fancy, others... not so. But it was good to be with the fam. I couldn't ask for much more on Christmas Day. And the food was top notch as well.
Here are some pictures that I took on my phone of my fam. I'll also try to upload a movie of my baby cousin.

That's my cousin Kelly and my aunty Helen.

Thats my Cousin Michael.

And that's my grandmother.
The rest of my family is basically too ugly to take photos of. Here is a
movie of my cousin Michael. Basically it was just me testing out the movie mode. nothing fancy. I'm not sure if it will work on some computers. (basically on angus's as his is a tad... old)
Xmas arvo I came home and contemplated Christmas day. It's a nice day, and i'd love to hear what all you kids got up to.
And just because this is my blog. I'm going to brag. here are the presents I got from Santa, which i clearly don't deserve.
- Crumpler Bag (thanks to angus for this... and Santa, if you're reading, you still need to pay me back on this one!)
- Filofax (quite a sexy one too)
- Mobile (i'm in love)
- Toothbrush (mighty cool. its electric.)
And thats basically it. I bought my Mum a Salad Spinner and a Tree. I bought the salad spinner too early though. because the other day I found the BEST ever present. which i wish i had thought of earlier, so when i saw it i had no more $$$. sad.
Anyway. I'm tired. And i'm going to play with my phone some more. And brush my teeth some more. And then organize myself in my new filofax.
p.s here is my weekly listening chart. It's been quite small this week as i've been listening to a lot of indie artists which only have minimal tracks, so they don't get onto the big list of listness.

p.p.s ok. i don't think it is working. because when i try to view it, it's the same as last weeks. but if you click on it it should show you the right list. maybe.

So come let us/you adore him/me
hello all!
best wishes for this holiday season, whether it be happy christmas/hanukah/miscellaneus or just a nice relaxing time of year to share with family and/or friends.
I've got to be awake in 7 and a half hours as i'm being a good girl and helping to drive the australian economy forward by selling the rich power-hungry brighton citizens bread and cakes so that they are happy. and if they are happy, then the big australian companies, and the little companies will be happy. giving australia a big healthy smile. wow. i'm very patriotic tonight.
Merry Christmas all! Especially to you, #703 Bus Driver. He gave me a free lift home, because he was cool. Vakil the bus driver of the 703 bus is a hindi wishing all his passengers a very merry christmas - top bloke.

calling all byron kids
whilst on the bus today, i saw a shop called "the cheeky monkey." v.amusing. i think they sell kebabs as well. so that's like cheeky monkies, and bay kebabs in one! woo!
in other news. fathers are the hardest people to shop for.
the end.

Some things that I have learnt today
- I am unsure of how to spell the word "learnt."
- My father hates my boyfriend.
- when blind it's hard to cross the road, even with the vibrating buttons to guide blind people.
- My contacts will arrive on thursday. thats 4 days too late.
- Queer as Folk season Final is tonight (didn't learn that today, but am still v.excited)
- It's Ray Martins Birthday today. he turned 61.
- the NGV is a pretty dandy place. (already knew that, but this was reassured today)
- I have a shit memory (once again, i already knew this, but was once again reassured of this fact today)
- the spray deck i want is $100 more than i am willing to spend on a spray deck.
- if you think bus drivers are the scariest of all public transport operators, you are wrong. why else would they keep train drivers locked up the front of a train behind a locked door?
- my mother has a social life.
- someone sponsored me on LastFM so now i get free music downloads. I love it when randoms love me.
- I can show you all what i am listening too, or what my weekly top 10 artists are...

- and if I don't like the design of any of the pre-made charts. i can design my own.

- I am getting less hits from people searching for Emma Watson
- Emma Watson was on the front of MX magazine today. but she was not naked. nor could you see her underwear. (angus is possibly the only one who will understand this last one)
- Ben Woolhouse's bro plays trumpet and went to the VCA. and Ben himself also plays saxophone.
- i think i can classify my most listened to genre (can't really be seen from the above graphs) as stoner-rock.

It's a Fast-Driving Rave-Up
last week sometime I bought the Dandy Warhols first album, 'Dandys Rule Ok!'
on my walk home today i was thinking... by buying their record, i am infact adding to their salary. In turn, i am basically giving them money to buy their drugs. I suppose the amount of money that they got from my purchase was probably enough for half a joint. So by them buying more weed from the money i am giving them, they are raising the overall demand of marijuana.
With a higher demand for weed, the price will, in turn go up. So, I paid $21.50 for the album, but in reality, i am paying more. See, if i choose to buy weed, because then demand is higher, it will be more expensive for me.
So what was once a CD worth $21.50 is now worth a hell of a lot more.
And that children, was Anuty Emma's explanation of economics.

The Byron Blog #32
Hello All.
Well, I have returned from my 10 day adventure to Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. And I am well.
The Byron Bay section has been thoroughly blogged, but for my own advantage, I am going to write about my 2 nights on the Gold Coast.
I stayed avec my friend, Charlotte. She is damn cool.
The first night she had to work, so i stayed home and visited their family restaurant. They just renovated it, so it was good to see the new upgrades. It's a french restaurant in Broadbeach (the restaurant district of the Gold Coast)
But that day, I forgot, we went to Caville Ave. Which is like a really small, and really commercial Chapel St. Or there abouts. It's where the main schoolies festivities took place. There were like 30,000 kids there in the 1st week of schoolies. crazy!
The bus trip to QLD was interesting. Sat next to a nice gentleman from finland. he was backpacking with his girlfriend, who went up to QLD a day earlier. He was quite looker too. But his english wasn't so tres bien.
Then on the Wednesday, we were going to go to Wet n Wild, but didn't as Charl was sick, so she worked instead, and I hung out at Pacific Fair for a while. Which was really good. As I prefer being by myself rather than with lots of people. I bought 2 CD's which are ace.
Then that night we went back to Caville Ave and met up with Chris Mathieson, who i haven't seen in a looong time. so it was good to see him again. then I tried to do a deal with neil. but apparently he doesn't smoke dope. so that was poo.
Then we came home after going down to the beach and all that kind of stuff. Charlotte is a crazy crazy driver. well, she just speeds... a lot. Did I mention she crashed her last car?
Then yesterday I woke early, packed my things, minus my shoes, which are still up north and travelled to the airport. There, I met with the others, and we flew on a very turbulant trip home.
Back in melbourne, Loz lost her phone for a few hours, and Lisa lost her suitcase. Naturally, Lisa chucked a rager at the Virgin Blue team. poor kids.
So I am home safe, with a killer tan and some awesome memories, new friends, and stronger relationships. I also have a new room. Mum decided to give it a makeover, but it's only half done. I think she still wants to paint, and get new curtains.
That is all.
peace out.
p.s if you are interested, this is the front, and the back of the Byron Blog.

p.p.s here is a picture by Amy and kate. I have no idea when they did it.

The Byron Blog #31 (by Kitch)
Emma just wrote a label on the Dymo Labeller (organiser Express Model) and forgot to include a crucial letter. The word as
spell spelt (hehe) by Emma was: BISEUAL. Obviosuly the missing letter is X...
She was obviously writing about me. This aside, I shuld like it noted to all readers that although Kenneth is amusing in the extreme, it is infact my Gandpa's name and also my fathers middle name. That is all.
p.s Polly in a towell @ CHEEKIES! Yes!!!
p.p.s Line of the night.
Polly: "My teeth are fucking aching"
Emma: "you can borrow my retainer"
Addition by Amy: Bitchy has herpes. :)Addition by Emma: There was also a nice doodle on top of this page in regards to kenneth, although, due to censorship, i will not post it.

we have no power. and it is hot. Ahh!
The Byron Blog #29
Today has been a sleepy last day in Byron Bay for me. This morn I had a bit of a sleep in, then Lucy and I wandered down in the blaring heat to meet up with Pat, Kumiko & Sarah. 'Twas pleasantly pleasant. We had kebbabs from Bay Kebabs.
Today was boring, so now I shal go on to speak of my day yesterday which was one of my best so far.
The morning & early afternoon consisted of the Byron Bay Markets. Then i wandered home and chilled on the beach for a while. Back at home I chilled with the dudes. The Nimbin weed seemed OK. not great. but OK.
Then that night, Polly, Amy, Lucy, Lisa & I went into town and dropped Luch off at Byron Central appartments because she wasn't feeling 100%
So I took her fake ID and easily made it into the Great Northern Hotel (SFJ i love you!) because Pol, Amy, Fisa and I went to see Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males! woo!
Awesome gig.
The band room at the place was quite big, and quite empty. So i sat down at the front and was soon joined by Pol, then Amy and Lisa.
The first support band were surprisingly very good. They played well together, with some rockin' tunes.
As it turns out, the lead singer of Augie March, Glen Richards was the second supporting artist - so that was a pleasant surprise.
Then Amy and Lisa left due to sickness and pissed-ness.
So Polly and I sat and enjoyed Dan Kelly who was awesome.
The dancefloor consisten of an old man with very high shorts, a hippy with the best dance moves i've ever seen, and this strange looking punk guy who was either high, or pissed off his face. And then there was us. The music rocked, but it was sad because despite the great tunes, the venue was totally dead.
After the gig we had a word with the guitarist of Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males, who was really cool. We spoke of recorders mainly, as in - the wind instrument.
The after the pub closed, Pol and I basically went home after finding out that Byron Bay is dead on a Sunday night.
The Byron Blog #28
note to Polly from Lou:
"I want your Penis"
and
"Make sure you shave your scrotum"
the Byron Blog #27
Ok, so i'm in an internet cafe again. i think this one is expensive though. poo. they adveritse free internet... but there are catches. poo.
Yesterday was awesome. Today has been sleepy. Nimbin rocked. Missing Melbourne people. Loving the Lifestyle. Saw Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males. Got into the Pub with Lucy's fake ID.
that is all... the rest of the goss is in the Byron Blog Book. Will post it all... soon.
- Em xoxo
p.s hi angus! have fun on camp, and stay safe!

The Byron Blog #26
Went to the Byron Bay Markets today and spent far too much $$$.
poo.
I bought a Thelma Houston T-Shirt, a notebook and a hemp headband. I've bought 3 headbands so far. I'm not sure why. I only bought the one today because it was made of hemp.
Last night Lucy and Polly hooked up with 2 23year old hungarians. I imagine them to look like the Durmstrang School boys from Harry potter or like Victor Krum. ha. poor kids.

The Byron Blog #25
From Fort Deadbug 4077We have secured the base after many invasions. The enemy #1 - "the Cockroach Crusaders" refused to die, but we used last minute weapon tactics to take them out, despite the surprise the enemy had install for us: wings!
We then found spies in our galley, however vast quantities of biological warfare was used on our behalf.
The second invasion by "the moth army" was a killer, whilst we were expecting wings, we weren't prepared for the occasional suicide bomber we encountered.
However, the fort is secure & commander Chapman & Leutennant Steel are undercontrol once more.
The Byron Blog #24
Bear blog,
today I went to Nimbin. It was fun.
Lisa is brushing her teeth with an electric toothbrush.
"There is nothing like a crown!"
Amy is saying that she thinks Nimbin feels like a themepark, and personally I think she is exactly right.
Today was the Nearly Normal Nimbin Nacho day.
Litterally in the 30 seconds after stepping off the Nimbin Shuttle Bus we were offered weed 4 times. No Joke.
(Amy, vouch for me here!)
We got cookies, but they didn't do anything.
Loz chucked, ya gheydick (by lucy)

You also got a talan and loz has bubbles (by lucy)
The Byron Blog #23
Kitch hates me. but that doesn't matter because WE ARE GOING TO NIMBIN TODAY!!! (and I have his ticket)
Nimbin should be pleasant, except for the 85 minute unairconditioned bus trip there, and back.
I just saw Kitchingmans crack. Not Pretty.
Kate is naked, but she is pretty, so yeah.
Last night we stayed up doing prank phonecalls. Gary has returned. I think Greg "the lion" Eldridge was the best of the lot. "Growl!"
Amy had a crack at calling Aazza. And Gary had hot computer phone sex with Evgenny, who spoke in Russian for a large majority of the time. All Gary could understand was "dasvidenya" which was hard to rebound off.
Polly looks gay in her shorts.

REPEAT: GARY HOTSTIX'S COVER HAS BEEN BLOWN!
that is all.

would just like to correct a statement made by amy on the 1st at 6:00pm. I have not and will never mack Gerard the Turkey. But I will still claim 100 points. Incidentally, I cought Amy doing something unsightly with her hair straightener.
Last night was pretty fun hanging out with Em's gang. Their house is pretty nice, but not as nice as this one!! I'm feeling a bit seedy and unwashed right now, but once we watch the rest of Aladdin (ys, another Disney Classic) I will attend to my personal hygeine. Catch you later.
The Byron Blog #19
Ok, as it turns out Lucy is on 55 points (First mack, 2 boys, one night, 2 the next, inc one german)
Lisa is on 25 points (2 boys inc canadian)
Polly is on 5 points (1 man - toolie of 27 years, but novelty all the same)
And loz is on 5 points for shutting down a guy with style.
That is all so far.
The Byron Blog #18 (by Amy)
Kate and I have just made a very contraversial decision by stating that Noah from the Notebook is in fact more delicious than Winston (see Tuesday the 29th of november) which is a pretty big call but it's true. So I'd say that makes him 7 cups worth.
Anyway, Emma has asked me to document my night but I can't be bothered to go into detail, it's far too long.
Basically first of all Kate, Luce, Loz, Lisa and I went to Cocomangas (or whatever the hell it's called) whereby they were celebrating their 10th Birthday by having a stripshow. We didn't stay long.
So, many drinks later, we stumbled up the main street to get to seedy Cheeky Monkeys where we made friends with a friendly busker singing "Blister in the Sun". We paid him lots of money and he danced on the roof of a nearby car.
Later we met another friend... Angus/Patrick. His friend was rude to us and KAte and I played Elite Artists.
On the way back from Cheeky Monkeys we had the best cabby
ever - David from England found us a little too noisy and gave me a huge stack of cards promoting his art.
That is all.
Oh, and I trust that you all realise the blatent rubbish of Bitchy kitchy's comments towards me. His immaturaty often takes over. Revenge is coming.
SYDNEEEEEEEY
Over and Out.
<3 Amy.
p.s Biggest Thunderclap/Lightning ever. We pretty much all just died as we are on the beach.
p.p.s Homebake was today and that makes me sad.
p.p.p.s Jab.
The Byron Blog #17
Last night was probably the most eventful for me by far. As in I actually went out and wasn't refused entry. And so what if I only went to Em Rodsteads place 6km down the road. It was still nice to get out of the house one night. Chrissy and I left about midnight, but Polly & Kitch stayed the night, basically because we couldn't actually move kitchy who was asleep on Veras lap. Or at least, that was what I gathered.
Now my head hurts... bad.
poo. And my tea is still too hot to drink. And I haven't yet gone on my morning swim. too lazy, tired and hungover.
Maybe the idea of taking a boogieboard to the beach will help me get away.
No... still sitting here...
I had a dream last night that the lady from RMIT called wanting an interview with me that day, but I was in Byron Bay, so I had to do it over the internet via webcam, and I couldn't find one anywhere. I knew megan had one, so I went to her place and she's like "sure! of course you can!" but there were all these typical dream obsticles getting in my way. For example, Pat le little bro got into problems with driving and the police, it was crazy.
This mornign I woke to the bells of Van Nyuengs (or whatever his name is) execution. I didn't know what the bells were, I thought it was the doorbell, so I started getting up when Kate told me what was up.
I'm totally against the death penalty as a means of punishment, but the kid knew the law at the time, and any repercussions of his highly illegal actions. So only he is to blamed, and punished.
The downstairs kids (lauren, Kate & I) always rouse early due to the lack of blinds to prevent the sun from shining in our beutiful morning faces. Today we are watching the Notebook (again) and the upstairs kids (everyone else, except kitch and Pol who are still at the other house) are getting angry at us.
Lucy and Lisa scored some more points last night apparently. Go Them!
Wow, an upstairs kid is up. My guess is either Amy, Lucy or Gen.
Yep. It was Lucy. Lucy is on about 55 points, Lisa on 25, polly on -20 and everyone else on 0 I think.
I saw a 4 cupper yesterday, and a 6 cupper the day before.
These are my random thoughts for this morning.

Once again, I went swimming -
(Kitch, Luchang, Polly, Emma is ghey watched Beauty and the Beast. Best line ever. Gaston: Please let ME THROOOOUGHH!)*
I think I might make it my morning ritual.
Polly is dying opposite me. She didn't take her drugs.
Speaking of drugs, Kate, Pol, Lucy & I tried this legal shit last night that was supposed to induce a mild high. Pfft. Did crap all.
It came from the best shop ever! "Happy High Herbs" it's such an awesome shop, the even sell
No sweat Shoes so woo!
Today i am going to see Harry potter and the goblet of fire. Should be ace.
jarvis Cocker, Johnny Greenwood AND Daniel Radcliffe all in one movie! WOO!
The others are ready to go to the earlier session of Harry. Lisa is looking damn hot. and damn her, she is getting a massage after the movie. Jealousy.
Kitchy is playing Santana and I am scared. At least it's not that "tricky" song. Argh!
Everyone is so burnt. Only Polly, Amy and I, oh, and maybe Gen aren't burnt.
Must stop writing now.
Bored.
