now wasn't that just dandy?

I've just returned from speech night, and boy was it a blast. *cough* ummm... yes, maybe not.
I managed to be up onstage for the majority of the evening. What a joy.
I was a bit sad at the end when I walked off stage, knowing that I'd never play again with the people that I had been playing with for the past 5ish years. And like Rosie said, it's the end of an era, as 3/4 or the trombone section are leaving. It'll just be little her to hold the fort next term/year. I really want to go back and play in stage band.

My father decided to come to speech night tonight. which was odd, apart from taking me to school most mornings, he's never had an intrest in my school life. In fact, the other day when I had my music exam, and amy and I got in the car to go home, he goes; "so what did you do today? music practices or something?" - at least he picked up the fact that it was music related as we were carrying various musical instruuments to the car.

So we played some procession song, which sounded fairly militaristic, then Advance Australia fair. After those two "beautiful" performances the St Leonards College Symphonic band rocked out into 'Procession of the Nobles' - now, I WAS supposed to have a 2 - 3 bar solo here, but Mr Bain decided to play along as "it looked fun" so it turned into a duet. grrr. he's a good guy though, and knowing me, if he wasn't there to play it with me, i would have fucked up. And the super valve pushing and slide waving from me and Rosie at the end kind of turned out well! That said, it's always perfect on her behalf, but man, i don't think one person could move their arm any faster than I have to then.
I would also just like to make a point that Tom, the boy in my brass group who ALWAYS forgot his music, decided to leave his tuba mouthpiece at home for the performance, so his mother had to race back to Black Rock (from clayton) to get it for him. That boy annoys me. Good kid though, his heart is in the right spot... most of the time.

Then we played the school hymn. Damn sharps. I hate key signatures with sharps. Whenever brass players see sharps, they freak out. It's not normal!!!

Then after Wendy's speech, Al's speech, Roger's speech and the year 10 and 11 speeches, it was time for the stage band to play "Sweet Home Chicago" (amy's favourite song in the world)
Because I made the stupid decision to stand, I then realised that playing over the stand is harder than it looks, so I ended up just playing the entire thing off by heart. Which was cool, as I got to watch the audience. Lucy was hysterical, that is all I can say.

After that I had to scedadle, as the year 12's were expected to recieve thier little book things.
Oh, but before that, well done to all the award winners! especially Gus with that super snazzy outdoor ed award. And was it just me or were those caltex award winners really... cool. especially the taller one ;)
Yes, so after the 180 odd year 12 students got their awards, and the new student council was announced (which I wasn't so super keen on, but meh. thats mostly because I detest nick henry. ugh.) it was time to go. which was sad. very sad indeed.

So I gathered my things, tried to find my trumpet playing friend, but failed. Then went home and ate chocolate buscuits.

- Em xoxo

p.s i was curious as to why so many people were coming to my blog via Emma Watsons name, so I typed in "emma watson naked" (without the """) to MSN and this site came up 2nd. Woo!
